BT also said said that the programme to bring call centres back to the UK would continue «in years to come». And now one of those years has come (this one, in fact) and BT is continuing to fulfil its pledge of bringing all customer call centres back in house by 2020.

In August, the company revealed it was transferring 45 emergency ‘999’ call-handling staff from its Jubilee Street hub to Accrington and laying off a similar number of agency workers.
BT said it has already created more than 1,000 new UK jobs to meet this commitment, and plans to create “hundreds of other customer call centre positions in the UK over the next year”.

Hi, I am very fed up speaking to the BT Indian call centre. Back in August, I requested a letter from BT because there was a problem and I went through a number of call centre staff because if I say «I want ABC from you», the Call centre rep will repeat by saying «So you want XYZ, right?».
It is not unusual for call centre staff to follow some sort of script – I’ve experienced it myself with UK based call centres. I would also like to see BT bring it’s call centres back to the UK, since it would provide much needed jobs, but at the end of the day it all comes back to cost
